What software do low-voltage contractors use to estimate Division 27 projects?

Most low-voltage contractors have historically used Excel spreadsheets or adapted electrical estimating tools like Accubid or ConEst — neither of which was built for Division 27 scope. EstiMatrx.ai is purpose-built for Division 27 (structured cabling, telecommunications) and Division 28 (fire alarm, electronic safety and security) contractors. Powered by DraftLogic™ — EstiMatrx's proprietary estimating methodology — it analyzes construction plans, identifies low-voltage scope evidence, and generates a review-ready draft estimate package using standards-referenced estimating logic with regional contractor-net pricing benchmarks for your metro market. Estimator validation is required before bid submission.

How do I estimate structured cabling for a K-12 school renovation?

Estimating structured cabling (Division 27) for a K-12 school renovation requires: (1) reading the architectural and electrical drawings to identify data outlet locations, MDF/IDF rooms, and backbone pathways; (2) counting drops, patch panels, and cable tray footage; (3) applying regional material pricing benchmarks from contractor-net market data; and (4) applying labor rates estimated from regional benchmarks that must be verified against the applicable awarding agency, wage determination, bid documents, and project requirements. EstiMatrx.ai supports this process with AI-assisted scope review, estimate documentation, and a PDF proof of calculation for estimator validation. Private beta known-job benchmarking is internal workflow evidence only, not a public accuracy claim. Estimator review required before bid submission.

Is there AI software for Division 27 and 28 estimating?

EstiMatrx.ai is an estimator-led, AI-assisted estimating control system built specifically for Division 27 (structured cabling and telecommunications) and Division 28 (fire alarm, access control, and video surveillance) contractors. DraftLogic supports scope review, quantity extraction, estimate documentation, proposal support, and auditability. The estimator validates scope, quantities, assumptions, exclusions, pricing, and procurement requirements before any bid submission. EstiMatrx is not autonomous bid generation and does not replace estimator judgment.

EstiMatrx is an estimator-led, AI-assisted estimating control system for Division 27 and Division 28 low-voltage contractors. DraftLogic supports scope review, quantity extraction, estimate documentation, proposal support, and auditability, while the estimator validates scope, quantities, assumptions, exclusions, pricing, and procurement requirements before any bid submission. EstiMatrx is not an autonomous estimator, a guaranteed quantity takeoff tool, an engineering or code-compliance certification tool, an RCDD-credentialed service, a procurement or legal compliance authority, or a replacement for estimator judgment.

Can EstiMatrx.ai be used for cooperative contract bids and E-rate projects?

Yes. EstiMatrx.ai's line-item output format is designed to support documentation workflows for cooperative procurement programs (TIPS, OMNIA Partners, Sourcewell) and E-rate Category 2 projects. EstiMatrx does not determine eligibility or provide procurement/legal compliance advice; verify requirements with the applicable administrator, applicant, consultant, or counsel. Estimator review required before bid submission.

What is the difference between Division 27 and Division 28 in construction?

In the CSI MasterFormat construction specification system, Division 27 covers Communications Infrastructure — including structured cabling (Cat6A, fiber optic), telecommunications rooms (MDF/IDF), outside plant, PA/intercom systems, IP clock systems, and AV infrastructure. Division 28 covers Electronic Safety and Security — including fire alarm systems (NFPA 72 referenced), access control, video surveillance (CCTV), and intrusion detection. Both divisions are typically performed by low-voltage contractors and are separate from Division 26 (Electrical). EstiMatrx.ai estimates both divisions from a single plan upload. Estimator review required before bid submission.
